Talking about MayDay
Dago
and Romeo will let our listeners know what is happening on Mayday!

Often the most enlightening statistic can be that prior to the implementation of NAFTA, US immigration
had declined for three years.  After NAFTA pitted deep-pocket corporations against  poor farmers and
small business all over the Americas, US immigration began to skyrocket.

"The current immigration debate mirrors the issues of the 1960s. The similarities were never more apparent than when thousands of immigrants around the country left their workplaces to march last year to protest proposed immigration laws."   Wally Webster, interim chairman of the city of Lynnwood's Diversity Commission.

MAY DAY!   KBOO SPECIAL PROGRAMMING DAY
Tuesday, May 1 --
Tune in for Special MAY DAY Programming throughout the day!
Tuesday, May 1st  7:00 am to 7:00 pm

We are calling A national day of multi-ethnic unity with youth, labor, peace and  justice communities in solidarity with immigrant workers and building new immigrant rights & civil rights movement! On May Day 2007, cities from across the country will organize variety of actions: boycott, strike, march, rally, walk-out, congressional visit, etc. calling for dignity and legalization for all immigrant works, never give up our fight and we'll reclaim our May Day and to build a new immigrant/civil rights movement!
"King fought against the injustices that force illegal immigration, said Enrique Gonzalez, of El Centro de la Raza, an advocacy center in Seattle.   "What injustices are being propagated for folks to have to immigrate against their will? They don't choose to come here, they have to," he said. "If (King) were alive, he would join hands right along with us."
Martin Luther King Jr. and Immigrants  "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
The Immigration Reform Act of 1965 rightfully joined the two great civil rights laws as a third enduring pillar of the freedom movement, and Martin Luther King led the way.
