Obama
2008
It has been demonstrated that George W. Bush is incompetent. Further, he may never have been elected. He lost in 2000 and was installed
by the supreme court.
And then in 2004, but his lawless machine disenfranchised the American people. *
But this is not the reason we need Barack Obama. We need Mr. Obama because he is brilliant, flexible,
and can heal our divided nation.
Gonzales was never qualified for the position he holds. He is uninformed, incompetent and
inadequate. His failure in office has been
a national security and public relations disaster.
McClain is out of the picture. His lies and ass-kissing have lost him
any credibility.
But there is hope on the horizon. As I mentioned last October... there is one candidate for
2008 who can win the next election
regardless of the grab bag of
dirty-tricks which Rove and his associates may employ.
Barack Obama has the charisma, intelligence, savvy, and now the money it takes to win.
There is no point in hedging our bets.
Hillary long ago abandoned her base. Bush-lite ain't gonna
cut it. And with her baggage, she could lose us the presidency.
"The most notable difference among the candidates was that Obama and Edwards directly tackled
the war -- and demanded that the United States
withdraw in a timely fashion -- while Clinton avoided
the topic altogether."
Obama kicked off the speeches just before 8:30. He recalled a moment when he was running for Senate
in 2004 and visited a group of workers
at a Maytag Plant in Galesburg, Ill., near the Mississippi river. The
company had announced that the plant's work was going to be sent overseas.
"I met a guy named Tim Wheeler," Obama said, "who had worked at a steel
plant close-buy. He had been
the head of a union that had already
closed. And he was sitting quietly listening to the conversation. He
finally broke down and he said his biggest concern was health care. And
he said, 'My son needs a liver
transplant. We're waiting for a donor.
But with my health care benefits used up, we're trying to figure out
if < edicaid will cover the cost. Nobody can give me a clear answer. And, you know, I'll sell everything I've
got for my son, I'll go into debt,
but I still' -- and then his voice cracked, and his wife was sitting
next to him and she started crying."
Obama said what the plant worker experienced was the result of the "ownership society" touted by President
Bush, and argued that in
reality such a system amounts to little more than social Darwinism,
with every man and woman for themselves."
Barack Obama, early on, sacrificed fame and fortune for a career in public service. He has a record as an
honest, accountable, thoughtful, and progressive leader. He can lead us to victory.
I see no contradiction between his progressive platform and his reminder that responsibility, accountability,
and the rule of law must remain critical priorities. These conservative truths
are liberal values.
The overriding reason to support this man is because Obama stands for working Americans. Given the
alternatives, the choice has not been so clear since Robert Kennedy's potential was stolen from us in 1968.
"...Barack Obama could well defeat Hillary Clinton for the nomination.
It would be the victory Bobby Kennedy
was denied by an assassin's bullet. Obama is, like Kennedy, a charismatic freshman Senator, running before
his time but — supporters think — uniquely suited to the time. Obama follows Kennedy in being a bold liberal
and a skeptic of simple ideological stances, a gifted politician and an antipolitician, a man familiar with the
halls of power yet a charismatic critic of them." http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1604561,00.html
"Imagine President Barack Obama in the world, as a world leader," One
of the great tragedies of this
administration is how George Bush relates to the world. This man (Obama) would be 180 degrees. Diplomacy
would work, the world would be more peaceful, and more safe, and a
better place to live."
~~Iowa state Attorney General Tom Miller
"The way I keep the momentum is by reminding people that this isn't about me, it's about them," "...I am a vehicle,
or this campaign is a
vehicle, to talk about how we want to reduce the influence of money in politics; how we
want
to put an end to the nasty slash-and-burn,
trivialized politics of the last couple of decades; how we want to come
up with common-sense and practical solutions instead of being driven by ideology."
“And the way I would describe myself is I think that my values are deeply rooted in the progressive tradition, the
values of equal
opportunity, civil rights, fighting for working families, a foreign
policy that is mindful of human rights,
a strong belief in civil
liberties, wanting to be a good steward for the environment, a sense
that the government
has an important role to play, that opportunity is
open to all people and that the powerful don’t trample on the less
powerful … I share all the aims of a Paul Wellstone or a Ted Kennedy when it comes to the end result. But I’m much
more agnostic, much more flexible on how we achieve those ends.” ~~~Barack Obama
This man is the best and brightest hope for working Americans
in 2008. His honesty and integrity will win the
support of progressive
Democrats, principled Republicans, working Americans, and patriots who want to
revitalize
our nation, restore our reputation, reestablish American credibility, and chart
a new course in a better direction: peace, security, and honor.
"The spread of evil is the symptom of a
vacuum. whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the
moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be
no compromise on basic principles."
Ayn Rand
