Tim
is a writer, editor, professor, tutor, organizer, activist, and curriculum
developer.
He has a passion for reading,
literacy, and creative arts. Tim edits, writes, teaches, publishes,
and tutors. Tim
is on the steering committee
for Portland
Jobs with Justice, co-hosts Fifth
Monday Labor Radio on KBOO 90.7 FM,
and is Associate Editor and Editorial Consultant
for
The Portland
Alliance, a vehicle for NAAME, a 501C3 Oregon
nonprofit.
He lives in Beaverton, Oregon, has a home in Missoula,
Montana, and was born in St. Louis Missouri.
In Missouri, Tim attended high school and some college, spending
his leisure time close to the
Missouri river and the bottomlands.
In California he worked
in the material handling industry, eventually forming his own company,
Martin Installation. Tim relaxed by playing golf, playing
cribbage, and riding a motorcycle. For a time
Tim kept a large
garden and raised chickens.
Timothy eventualy sold the firm and moved to Arizona to complete
his education. He studied
at the University of Northern Arizona and
worked for the Arizona Daily Sun. A large portion
of his leisure
time was spent fly-fishing, gardening, raising chickens, hiking,
camping, and boating.
After graduating from Northern Arizona University, Timothy moved to
Missoula, Montana. In
Missoula he worked as a tutor,
published online, gave seminars on writing at the University of
Montana, did substitute teaching, and did specialized research and acted
as librarian under the auspices
of The International Peace
Resource Center. Tim published an independent magazine for
writing and
the creative arts called The Wordsmith Collection.
In his spare time in Montana, Tim hiked, rode a
motorcycle, fished,
played golf, took pictures, tended gardens, raised chickens, played
cribbage,
and did a lot canoeing.
After moving to Oregon, Mr. Flanagan taught college, attended the
University of Oregon at Eugene,
tutored, edited books, worked as a
union organizer, and edited The Gathering before taking his
current position with The Portland Alliance. When relaxing,
Tim reads, writes, cooks, gardens,
plays chess, and works for
progressive social change.
Tim
hopes to do more fly-fishing, golfing, and camping. He has also lived in Colorado, Massachusetts,
and Ohio... and has travled extensively in North America, Mexico,
Canada, and British Columbia.
For parts of ten years he did
interactive research by traveling with a carnival in a number of states.
Timothy plans to do some writing, travel, and research in Europe.
