"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed  to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite."

Many representatives are examining and changing their position on critical issues important to America.
They've seen the polls showing that most of America wants a change in our national priorities.
Every one of them needs to hear a steady avalanche of phone calls.  Why not you?

Residents of Oregon can call or write to their Senators and Representatives.   It is time for effective leadership.

Thiese efforts at grassroots civic commitment for social change are organized collaboratively across America.

Peace and Justice, Peace Resource,  Union Resource, and a long list of other groups.

Why stop here....

In ways we have not seen since the war began, there is a new level of debate about Iraq in Congress. Some who were once
the strongest supporters of the war are now saying it is time for a new direction. Many representatives are considering
changing their stand, and today is an opportunity for all of us to be very clear on exactly what we want:  We want our
representatives and leaders to do the right thing.
We must renegotiate the closed-bid contracts to include our neighbors,
allies, and the Iraqi people.  Winning bidders can support their investments with peacekeeping forces.  We cannot continue
to stay a course of death and destruction when other options are at hand.

It is unconscienable to use our troops as enforcers for no-bid transnational contracts in a breeding ground for terror.  We must
not replace old-style British and American colonialism with a corporate exploitation of Iraq.  This is a reciepe for disaster.  As Iraqis
and others across the globe provide peacekeeping forces, our troops can come home to reconnect with family and rebuild America.

A majority of Iraqis want U.S. troops out of Iraq. General William C. Odom, head of the National Security Agency during the
Reagan administration, says that plan makes sense.2 Former Central Intelligence Agency director John Deutch has said the U.S. should
pull as early as this year.3 Generals who served during Vietnam agree it's time to plan an exit.4 63% of Americans say they want our
troops home in 2006.  A coordinated withdrawal a a responsible, mainstream position.

Make your call today, and then forward this mail to a friend.

If you can't get through the first time, that's good news. Try again in a few minutes. Imagine the atmosphere in the Congressional office
buildings as people walk down halls where the phone is ringing continually in every office they pass.
