To those who make the
claim that
Noam Chomsky
is "at war with America..."
Chomsky uncovers the realities that those who wear
rose-colored glasses would like
to ignore.
He exposes the good and the bad in the good and the bad alike.
Some would rather just "filter out"
the parts of reality they refuse to acknowledge. But we need
these
perspectives.
Perhaps the most useful thing about Chomsky is his
willingness to consider all views
within their own contexts,
while considering the dialectic between these viewpoints
in the context of history and facts on the ground.
Chomsky is not at war with anyone... Least of all the United States. He, like most of us,
would love to see
the United States returned, intact, to those of us who live
and work here. Instead it has been hijacked by
transnational corporations that care little
about America, her values, or her people.
The "war on terror" rhetoric can only become as destructive as we allow. This lethal
code word for
corporate hegemony has bankrupted the United States, crippled our military,
run up untenable debts
for generations to come, lost the trust of our allies and the support of our
friends. Roves convenient
excuse for the excesses of this administration
has undermined freedom at home, diluted our constitutional
protections, and has been used to justify torture, murder, abrogation of
treaties, and illegal aggression at
home and abroad.
The biggest perpetrators of terror have hijacked this nation.
It is time to take back our country and our dignity.
We need more truth-telling, not less.
