Here in Oregon people are initiating a campaign to convince our Republican Senator Gordon Smith, to walk his talk and vote against any supplemental spending for the war he calls "absurd and criminal". Actions will range from visits and sit-ins at Smith's office to phone calls and letters. If you wish to be a part of this campaign, contact Troy Horton: troyhorton@centurytel.net

We are hoping that people will join us in one or more of the following ways:

1. Civil Resistance: Going to Senator Smith's offices with the understanding that you will not leave until the
   Senator or his staff on his behalf, commit to no longer voting to support the war, nor will he obstruct efforts of
   the Senate to bring the troops home now. Understanding that if you refuse to leave, you will be arrested.
   Being respectful of the entire process of awaiting arrest, being arrested, being booked and released.

2. Support for those risking arrest: be available to hold on to personal property (keys, cell phones, purses,
   briefcases, etc) until parties are released from jail. Be available to shuttle people to their cars or to mass
   transit when they are released; call family members to let them know what is happening and what to expect.
   Notify us when you have heard that the party has been released.

3. Lobbying:One way to help our effort is to just go to his office with the message. It is best to have this written
   down, with your contact information included. Our group is currently focusing on Sen. Smith's downtown
   Portland office, which is at the World Trade Center , 2nd and Salmon, on the 12th floor.

4. Write letters to editors of Oregon media to support our campaign- Oregonian

5. Attend our meetings- Next meeting is Thursday April the 19th at Whitefeather Peace Community
