Soccer

Soccer is a very popular sport played all around the world, but it  isn’t that easy to play. There is much more to it than just kicking a ball around, running after it and kicking it into the goal. Players can’t compete against others if they  are not in shape, don’t have good ball skills,  don’t have a clear understanding of the game, or practice bad sportsmanship.

To be on a good soccer team, people must be in good shape.  Soccer players need to be able to chase after a really fast person who is close to scoring a goal. To do this, players must work out at the gym a lot or just use some exercise machines for an hour or two. Students who are already on a team often have days where they do sprints around a track, some push-ups, and sit-ups for about an hour. Aspiring athletes set a goal for their speed before starting their workouts.  The goals they set are  reflected in their starting speeds. After doing all these workouts on a routine for a couple months, soccer players will surely
become closer to the perfect condition they need to be successful.

The most critical skills are good ball-handling and slide-tackling. Good players need to know how to work with the ball to get past people and know how to slide-tackle someone without getting a red card and being thrown out of the game. To get better ball skills, athletes should find a soccer trainer and have that instructor teach new ball tactics which can be practiced at home. This specialized training will help players run up the field and get around other players. For slide-tackling, one can also ask the trainer how to do it properly, but will want to make sure not to slide- tackle from the back when chasing after another player. If a player does hit another player from behind, he or she will get a red card and won’t be able to play for the rest of that game as well as the next. The appropriate way to execute this move is to run around and slide-tackle from the side or front.  Using this approved method allows a player to be able to stop anyone and get past everyone.

Success in playing soccer requires a good understanding of the game  and good sportsmanship. Players can either get a copy of the refereeing book or  ask the coach to explain. A complete understanding of the rules is important, since there are many little flaws that can be made which might result in violations.  For example: when throwing in the ball, a player must make sure the  back foot stays on the ground the whole time and that the arms go all the way over the head. If not, then the whistle is blown and the other team gets the ball. Good sportsmanship is also a key to the game. Participants can’t say anything that will offend anyone and can’t argue with the referee.  Doing so will also get a player carded.

These are some of the many things that make soccer a sport that requires  time and effort. So if you want to become a better soccer player, go ahead and start excercising to get into shape, get a trainer to teach you some ball skills, and learn the rules of the game.
