are in big trouble these days -- and they need our help.
The sea ice that they need to survive is disappearing
at an alarming rate; scientists say it could be completely gone
by the year 2040.
In response to this crisis, the United States Fish & Wildlife Service has now proposed listing the polar bear as endangered, and invited comments from the public on this proposal.
