The word "ethics" is derived from the Greek word
ethos (character), and from the Latin word mores
(customs). Together, they
combine to define how individuals choose to
interact with one another. In philosophy, ethics
defines what is good for the individual
and for society and establishes the nature of
duties that people owe themselves and one
another.
The Executive, Congressional, and Judicial
Branches of Government
have been consistently unethical for the past seven years.
The Vice President & GHB Bush have chosen
to ignore the president, congress,
civil law, the constitution, and the Supreme Court to further
personal ambitions.
The Congress has enabled the Vice
President's thirst for power
The Supreme court has surrendered to the Vice
President's view
(of a unilateral, unlimited, and unregulated absolutism which defies
the US constitution.)
All three branches of government, as well as the
CIA... have broken laws,
subverted the US constitution, and betrayed this nation through
incompetence,
greed, corruption, cronyism, cowardice, and a lack of moral
compunction.
If we do not put impeachment, accountability, and
reparations on the table...
our children, and our children's' children, will pay dearly for
this cowardly surrender.
We must restore the rule of law and enforce
constitutional mandates. Yesterday.
Ethics, by definition, are not
"selective." The artificial
term: "selective ethics" is semantic
dodge (which originated with an
Episcopalian Priest named Fletcher whose
position was refuted by his own church.)
This synthetic term establishes a method
whereby Hitler, totalitarian states,
kings, fascists, dictators, tyrants, or
even ostensible democracies
might attempt to justify engaging in
counterproductive immoral and patently
illegal behaviors by "suspending" moral
codes. This is not logical.
Here is the definition: (There is no
debate. All religious authorities
agree.)
Ethics: Ethics is concerned
with distinguishing between good
and evil, between right
and wrong human actions, and
between virtuous and
non-virtuous characteristics of
people.
Proposals for suspending ethics contradicts the definition,
according to all Abrahamic and
nontraditional deisms, and according to
Aristotle, the man who created the term
ethics. Ethics cannot be defined
according to "situations," be
they objective or hypothetical.
Ethics are defined by specific moral
codes. If one thinks their neighbors
would appreciate being killed, he or she
is simply mistaken. Or anyone, as a
fallible temporal being, who presumes to
somehow have a better grasp of the
situation than a perfect, immutable, and
infinite being, is clearly dabbling in
pejorative conjecture and
pontification. Such egregious pretense
is, pragmatically or behaviorally, both
dishonest and inaccurate.
This position is a contradiction in
terms.
"The spread of evil is the symptom of a
vacuum. whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the
moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be
no compromise on basic principles."
Ayn Rand
