Current Topic and Events

Winter Term 2007, the Illumination Project will focus on racism and cultural pluralism. In a time of ever increasing diversity it is important to understand how to create a campus community that values people of all different ethnicities and cultures. Our plays will focus on the challenges faced by immigrants and people of color  within the PCC community and will reflect the desire for all individuals to be respected and included. With help from the Ford Foundations Difficult Dialogues grant, the Illumination Project and PCC will continue to maintain a focus on cultural and religious pluralism through the spring term of 2008.

The Illumination Project of PCC Sylvania is...
an innovative social justice theater project. This
is a student leadership and education
program designed to address issues of
oppression through classroom and community
presentations utilizing interactive theater.
The Illumination Project has the dual purpose
of providing participating students with an
opportunity to develop skills as educators,
activists, and leaders and to educate student,
staff, faculty, and community audiences on
social justice issues. The Illumination Project,
a program of the Sylvania WRC is also sponsored
through the Sylvania MC and Sociology and
Theater departments. The Illumination Project is
also made possible through the generous support
of The Equity Foundation, The Ford Foundation and The Vagina Monologues
