History has a way of sorting out these uncertainties.
While I hesitate to encourage untoward speculation, there
are clear and glaring inconsistencies in the public record.
We know certain facts about how the attacks on September
11th were allowed to occur on George Bush's watch.
We do this:
1. The Clinton administration organized and implemented
a task force to isolate and target Osama bin Laden and
his cohorts who were engaged in covert and overt plans
to destabilize the US government, remove US bases in
Saudi Arabia, and attack his nemesis, Saddam who had
cooperated with the CIA in setting up a secular Iraq.
2. The Bush administration, despite briefings by this task
force, did not see terrorism or Osama as a real threat.
In fact, this was not on their agenda. They dissolved
the task force, to the chagrin our intelligence services,
and to the dismay of our allies.
3. In spite of specific warnings about probable attacks
on America using aircraft to target buildings on American
soil, the Bush administration did not respond.
4. When we were attacked, NORAD did not follow standard
procedures. This departure has yet to be explained.
5. After the attacks, the Osama family was removed from the
United States at the behest of the US government, and
we subsequently surrendered to Osama's demands.
We removed our bases in Saudi Arabia, and attacked
Osama's enemy and fellow CIA "asset" Saddam, in Iraq.
6. When Osama was cornered in Tora Bora, we
diverted our forces and attacked Iraq, for no apparent
reason. Various rationalizations were serially proposed,
ranging from WMD's which the inspectors had confirmed
did not exist, to "installing democracy.." (a policy of
"nation-building" which Bush had ostensibly disparaged.)
7. Now, Osama is loose, we have no bases in Saudi Arabia,
the Taliban is gaining strength in Afghanistan, Iraq is a
quagmire where our forces are targets while being used
as mercenaries to enforced closed-bid contracts, and the
Middle East is in flames due to the intransigence and
feckless insouciance of our swaggering, grinning, smirking
chief executive. The "decider" who has decide to ignore
civil law, constitutional mandates, congressional directives,
and decisions and directives of the Supreme court.
Are there loose ends?
Certainly. And it is past time for accountability.
As current history unfolds, and the fog clears, the
facts on the ground do not bode well.
It is time to remove those who have failed
(through ignorance, incompetence, even perhaps
collusion...) to protect our nation. And if we find
treason in their behavior, justice should be swift.
"The spread of evil is the symptom of a
vacuum. whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral
failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no
compromise on basic principles."
