"It is characteristic of wisdom not to do
desperate things."
McCain's desperate surrender of his campaign to extremists like Rove
is a good measure of the man. This act alone proves his incapacity
for leadership.
It is fortunate that Obama won in spite of Republican electoral fraud
and
abuse, but time will tell whether or not Obama intends to lead or
surrender.

How many houses do you own? Most Americans could answer that
question quite easily.
But
John McCain couldn't remember when asked by
reporters. (Answer is more than seven)
Palin Around with Terrorists
by Tom H. Hastings
"There was absolutely nothing noble about what McCain did to
Vietnamese. He was one of the least likely to pay any price for his
actions, bombing them into fireball oblivion from thousands of feet in
the air. Were they not in possession of antiaircraft rockets they
would have had no chance to defend themselves against the bombings of
hospitals, civilian neighborhoods, and the infrastructure that kept
their people alive.."
Kate
Sheppard's
searing indictment of McCain's anti-woman
voting record and sexist behavior. McCain shouldn't count on much support from
women this election, she explains:
"[T]he suggestion that women will be "lining up" behind him is a fairytale. At
least, it should be.
McCain's record and policies on issues of importance to women are neither
moderate nor maverick."
G.O.P. Drops in Voting Rolls in Many StatesBy JENNIFER STEINHAUER
Voting experts say the registration numbers may signal the beginning of a
shift that could affect local, state and national politics over several
election cycles.
A prominent Christian leader whose radio and magazine outreaches are
solidly in support of biblically-based marriages – and keeps in touch with
millions of constituents daily – says he cannot consider Arizona Sen. John
McCain a viable candidate for president. "Speaking as a private individual,
I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances," said James
Dobson, founder of the Colorado Springs-based
Focus on the Family as well as the
Focus Action cultural action organization
set up specifically to provide a platform for informing and rallying
constituents.
McCain's Dirty Politics: Republicans Should Not Support Him—As a former
Republican activist who, as late as 2000, was campaigning for John McCain
against Bush, today I am a dedicated supporter of Senator Obama. My point
here is to ask how the Republicans will define themselves by the means they
use to try to define and defeat Obama.
Why McCain Will
Lose the General Election by a Landslide—
The November presidential election is not going to be close. Barack Obama is
going to beat John McCain by 8 to 10 points in the national popular vote and
win 300 to 350 electoral votes. Obama is going to wipe out McCain mano a
mano.
Have you
noticed that President Bush and John McCain keep telling Americans our problems
are all in our heads and that we just need to
feel better?
Late last night, McCain's campaign co-chair Phil Gramm had
to step down because of controversy over his comment that we were in the middle
of a "mental recession." But the the truth is, McCain himself has repeatedly
said our problems are merely "psychological"—Gramm was just more openly
condescending about it.
Gramm's gone—but so far, the media's giving McCain a free pass for saying
similar things. So we made a video. It's short, and funny, and it'll help spread
the word. Please check it out, then pass it on!
With banks failing, foreclosures and bankruptcies skyrocketing, inflation at
the highest level in years, and thousands losing their jobs, these comments are
a measure of just how out of touch with reality John McCain and George Bush are.
Let's make sure their comments don't slip under the radar.

Then tell Senator McCain: American women deserve
access to affordable contraception.
Last week a reporter asked Sen. John McCain whether he thinks it's fair for
insurance companies to cover Viagra for men, but not birth control for women.
If you're shocked by what you see, join us and tell Sen. McCain to ensure
that health insurance companies include women's birth control.
Maybe we shouldn't be surprised. In 2003 Sen. McCain
voted against forcing insurance companies to cover birth control.1
And this is the same senator who claimed in 2007 not to know whether condoms
prevented sexually transmitted diseases.2 Nonetheless, the truth
remains: American women deserve better than this.
It is understood that John Sidney McCain was admitted to the United
States Naval Academy primarily based on his
father and grandfather's attendance. But it is not as well-know that
John McCain graduated in the bottom of his class: No. 894 in a class of 899. Don't we deserve better?
-McCain opposed spending $100 million to prevent unintended and teen
pregnancies.
-McCain opposed legislation requiring that abstinence-only programs be
medically accurate
and scientifically based.
-McCain opposed Title X, the nation's family planning program.
-McCain opposed requiring insurance coverage of prescription birth control.
-McCain opposes comprehensive sex education.
-McCain is unsure where he stands on government funding for contraception.
-McCain opposed repealing the "global gag rule."
-McCain supports overturning Roe v. Wade.
"I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."
John McCain
For the past 25 years, John McCain has consistently voted against women's
health. From opposing funding for family planning programs to voting against
requiring insurance coverage of birth control, McCain has taken extreme
positions. He has voted against women's health and has not supported
legislation that would help reduce the rate of unintended pregnancies and
the need for abortion. This has earned him a
zero rating the lowest rating we give in the U.S. Senate.
"Sen. McCain believes government has the right to interfere with the
most personal and often the most difficult decisions affecting a woman's
health. Most Americans believe just the opposite and, as more voters
realize Sen. McCain's ardent anti-choice position, this will be an issue
for him in the general election."

Parenthood Action Fund

The word is starting to get out about McCain's rigid anti-woman's health
record, but more women across the country need to know the truth.
Move On's
friends at Planned Parenthood Action Fund just did a really cool thing—they took
to the streets in their own version of the Bush-McCain Challenge—to see if folks
knew where John McCain stands when it comes to protecting women's health.
Check out the video. It's amazing.
