"Populism is ultimately the way back for Democrats.
Because, as red-region progressives show, having the guts to stand up for
middle America -- even when it draws the ire of corporate America -- is as
powerful a statement about morality and authenticity as any of the GOP’s
demagoguery on "guns, God, and gays." By
David J. Sirota
Mr. Sirota has a point.
The past six years have been instructive. This administration has
behaved badly, and the consequences are apparent.
Facts on the ground debunk theories of neo-colonialist
adventurism, and prove that these glorious pretenders cannot govern or lead.
Perhaps our people and nation
understand more than our corporate media would choose to admit.
More than Seven of Ten Americans have rejected Bush, Preemptive Aggression, Endless
war, Surging Deficits,
Net Job Losses, Lies, Corruption, Deficits, Deceit, Death, Destruction,
Disaster, Incompetence, Hubris, and Dishonor.
The Lynchpin, the elephant in the room, is the fact that this
administration is cynically
using our military to enforce no-bid
contracts which are not in the best interests of this nation.
If we can deliver this message to the American people, there will be
regime change and a
course correction this November.
Their swaggering, smirking braggadocio has worn very thin with the vast majority of America.
The pendulum has swung. The silent majority
is speaking out and average Americans are forming
coalitions to take back the nation. We need not be held hostage to this arrogant corporate cabal.
If we replace fear, cynicism, and helplessness with courage faith, and determination:
we can unseat these pretenders and
begin the work of reconstruction, reconciliation and renewal.
We are the majority. We have facts and values on our side.
No fear, no turning back, and
no surrender. The timid apologists and calculating poll number
crunchers can either join us or get out of the way.
Populism is not old hat, nor is it naive. It is a strategy
which can take back this nation. Rather
than adopting the criminal tactics of the opposition, we can retool our
arsenals by going back to our roots. Red-blooded Americans will respond
at the ballot box with patriotic fervor.
in Solidarity, Timothy Flanagan
