We've been receiving many e-mails and calls requesting information about demonstrations and other actions responding to the Israeli atrocities in Gaza. Please spread the word and please tell folks who are interested that they can get on our action announcements list by contacting PPRC at pprc@riseup.net. Americans United for Palestinian Human Rights (www.auphr.org) will also be pleased to add to their action announcement list; they can be contacted through their website. There are several actions planned over the next few days here in Portland, each listed below. Please try to come out for these demonstrations calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, and equally important, please keep up the phone calls to our representatives in Washington, DC (contacts also listed below, and links posted at the PPRC website at www.pprc-news.org). Representative Blumenauer has called for a cease-fire and engagement. We need to convince Senators Wyden and Merkley, and our other representatives, to do the same! DEMONSTRATION AND RALLY WHEN: Saturday, January 10th, 2009 TIME: 3:00 PM WHERE: Pioneer Courthouse Square, SW Yamhill& Broadway, downtown Portland EVERYONE CONCERNED ABOUT PEACE AND JUSTICE MUST SPEAK OUT NOW FOR A JUST PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST! DEMAND: IMMEDIATE cease fire, justice for the people of Palestine, an end to U.S. funding of war. Our Palestinian brothers and sisters in Gaza need us to take to the streets and demand an end to the massacre. A serious humanitarian crisis is happening. Agence France-Presse reported that the first person killed when the Israeli military began to enter Gaza on Saturday, January 6th, was a Palestinian child. Tuesday morning, we woke up to the news that the Israeli military has slaughtered 30 and wounded 55 Palestinian civilians taking refuge at a UN School. The bombardment from land, air and sea is continuing and the death toll nears 600 Palestinian men, women and children and over 2,500 wounded. SATURDAY: Bring your Palestinian Flags and signs, bring your messages calling for IMMEDIATE CEASE FIRE and for peace in the Middle East. TELL YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS TO COME -- ALL AMERICANS WHO CARE ABOUT PEACE AND JUSTICE MUST SPEAK OUT ABOUT THIS HUMANITARIAN CRISIS THAT DOES NOTHING BUT DECREASE CHANCES FOR A JUST MIDDLE EAST PEACE! Speak out NOW for these demands! - Immediate and unconditional cease-fire by Israel NOW! -- this is a Humanitarian Crisis.
