Fellow AFT Members,
I hope your summer is going well and you are busy and
having great summer fun. If you still have energy left or
are bored and want more to do, I want to tell
you about an opportunity to get out of town and have some
fun organizing in other towns. Eben Pullman, an AFT Field
Representative, contacted me in August to ask for volunteers
to travel to various cities to help with AFT organizing. AFT
will pay for travel, hotel, meals, and probably rent a car.
There may be more organizing opportunities this fall.
Give Eben a call if you are interested in getting involved
in organizing or support for these efforts. His number
is 503 595-3880 x18.
Another topic I want to share with you is the need for
volunteers to serve on any one of the listed Bargaining
Advisory Committees (BAC). January 2009 begins contract
bargaining with the college and we want to be prepared to
negotiate on matters that concern us all in our work
environment.

These committees will begin meeting the first week of
October. If you see a committee that moves you to action
please contact Michael Canneralla, David Rives or Shawna
Rock in the Federation Office. This committee list is not
exhaustive. There may be other committees needed but at
right are a few to begin with:
