Subject: Global Peace summer seminar for community college faculty and administrators

The United States Institute of Peace announces a summer seminar designed for community college faculty and administrators to be held in Washington, DC on July 11-16, 2006. The seminar – “Global Peace and Security in Community Colleges and the Communities They Serve” – will give participants an opportunity to carefully examine the nature of international peace and security and how community colleges can relate this to their students and local communities. Presenters will include leading authorities in the study of global peace and conflict, as well as from the field of community college education. These individuals will be drawn from the Institute’s staff as well as from the Washington academic and policy community. The application process is competitive. The Institute will contribute to travel, lodging, and incidental expenses. Community faculty and administrators from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds are urged to apply. The application is at www.usip.org/ccfs.html. The deadline for applications is March 25, 2006.

it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact
that there can be no compromise on basic principles."
