Beth
Myers She is a long time activist who inspires people in the United States and around the globe to take action to better their lives and communities. Beth joined STITCH as the executive director in January of 2004. She brings a wealth of political experience, a strong background in organizational development and a dedication to community organizing. Over the past two years, STITCH has educated over a thousand diverse women in North America and hundreds female unionists in Central America to support their struggle for economic justice. Under Beth's guidance, STITCH has developed a ground- breaking training curriculum in Central America. The organization has published a bi-lingual book on women’s experiences with international trade which was read into the congressional record, from the floor of the House of Representatives.
Prior to coming to STITCH,
Beth was Director of Outreach and Membership at the Women’s Edge
Coalition. At the Coalition, Beth trained hundreds of activist on
globalization, the World Trade Organization, the Free Trade Area of the
Americas, and advocacy techniques & community organizing. Ms. Myers
built the membership department at the Women’s Edge Coalition from 40
members to over 8,000 in four years. Beth has also worked with Parents,
Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, the National Organization
for Women, and former Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey. In addition to her work at STITCH, Beth currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of US/LEAP (The U.S. Labor and Education in the Americas Project.)
