6/5/2003 Bush declares victory in Iraq: For George W Bush it may have been the mother of all political backdrops. The US President made a dramatic entry onto an aircraft carrier to declare victory in Iraq. |

Bush's war is over in Iraq. He declared
victory a few years ago. There are no weapons of mass destruction. Saddam is no longer in power. The primary irritant in Iraq is the American occupation. This occupation is formenting violence and making targets of our troops. We must stop enforcing no-bid contracts which contradict the best interests of the people of Iraq. People in Iraq are tired of Halliburton, Bechtel, and others hiring foreign workers instead of hiring Iraqi people to rebuild their own country. When we open the bidding on the reconstruction of Iraq and require peacekeeping troops from each participating nation, we can stop spending so much American tax money and begin to bring our troops home. Then we can rebuild America, secure our nation, and locate and prosecute the people who attacked our country. Not rocket science. Just common sense. When do the Iraqi people want us to leave? Now. ...They want their nation back. We should honor their request and stop enforcing counterproductive corporate-industrial colonialism. Our military leaders claim we are breeding terrorism. This is not what we want to be doing. best regards, Tim
