I see no counter example.
Had Hitler been captured, killing him
would only show that we can be as
capable of murder and violence as he
had been. This is not justice.
And frankly, why would one choose to
let that feeble excuse for a man get
off so easy...?
He should have been put in prison.
There, locked up, with no possiblity
of release, pardon, or the light of day...
he could be forced to experience some
small part of the hellish suffering he
perpetrated. In this punishment, and
in his humiliation and suffering, I
would find justice better served.
Why release him by sinking to his primal
level of depravity? Murdering prisoners
was his specialty. We are supposed to
be more civilized. Adopting his methods
is a cowardly surrender of our values.
What hypocrisy... and cowardice.
For those who want vengeance..., let the
miscreants suffer life. Leave vengeance
to the mysteries which surround us. Hell
and Heaven are not located in some fairy-
tale mythology. They are found on earth.
Death was too good for him. He killed
himself so that he would not have to suffer
the humiliation of capture and prison.
I think he got off to easy.
Perhaps my oppostion to the death penalty
is less benevolent than some may perceive.
I want faith, hope, compassion and justice
to prevail. Not capitulation to murder.
When you do that, Hitler... and others
who flaunt our laws and moral codes.....
win by default. ... Not on my watch.
I say, no surrender. We must
not become the enemy.
Abolish judicial homicide,
Respect the sanctity of life,
Then we and our values
can finally win the day.
Shalom,
Tim
